Poptropica

In 2007, Pearson Education released an online game named Poptropica. The brainchild of Jeff Kinney, the author of Diary of a Wimpy Kid, it allowed players to travel between different islands, and complete quests there. The game was recognized by Time magazine in a 2011 list of websites that make the internet great, where it earned plaudits for its “wholesome and slightly educational bent.” The game earned millions of dedicated players, and provided a safe space for kids to collaborate and play together while learning a few things in the process.
